The news item described:

• The announcement of the  $17000 grant to the Society from Columbia Basin Trust through the City of Nelson, for the construction of a gate at the west end of the footbridge to Cottonwood Falls Park.
• And on August 7 2017: the dedication of the gate;  the welcome of a delegation from Nelson’s sister city Izu-shi, Japan; and the celebration of the 30 th anniversary of the sister city relationship.
